Praxis Testing guidelines revised to extend score validity for In-state candidates to 10 years
Effective on May 1, 2008, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has revised the Praxis score validity from five to ten years for candidates educated within the Commonwealth. This pertains to candidates for certification and is applicable to all educators who are currently applying for Pennsylvania Certification. The score must meet the qualifying score in effect on the date the application was received.

All candidates whose teacher preparation program was completed outside Pennsylvania must successfully complete the same tests as candidates prepared in the Commonwealth. All tests must be successfully completed within five years of the date of application for certification, even when the interstate agreement is in effect.

Preparing for or Retaking the Praxis PPST’s at Holy Family University
The School of Education has available to students a program called PLATO in the Center for Academic Enhancement-Second floor of the NE Library, Room L2B (215-637-7700 x 3326) or in the Learning Resource Room at Newtown (x 4010). This on-line test simulation, and tutorial program allows you to take the three simulated Praxis PPST tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. The test can be taken in private or with a friend. Arrangements can also be made to access Plato from your home with or without a tutorial. Written test materials and books are also available from these locations or at the Northeast campus library. After completing these simulated tests a ½ hour meeting with center staff is available to review your results and if necessary, to develop a plan for study.
