Biochemistry
A biochemistry degree is an excellent choice for students wishing to work
in university or industrial research, or those choosing to pursue graduate
studies in biology, chemistry, medicine, and pharmacology.
Classes in this major include:
- Cell Biology
- Introduction to Scientific Techniques
- Molecular Genetics
- Biochemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Physical Chemistry
Biology
Graduates of our biology program have a number of career options. You may
work in clinical research, industrial technology, or health-related fields.
You could pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales, scientific writing or
illustration, and medical information. Still others use their undergraduate
biology degree as a foundation for professional training in medicine, dentistry,
and environmental law. This major also is ideal for education students wishing
to teach middle or high school biology.
Course highlights include:
- Cell Biology
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Biochemistry
- Histology of Organisms
- Immunology
- Botany
- Molecular Genetics

Mathematics
As a mathematics major, you may concentrate in mathematics/secondary education,
which prepares you for state certification to teach grades 7-12, or mathematics
alone, which prepares you for a career in actuarial science, statistics,
or applied mathematics.
Mathematics course highlights include:
- Discrete Mathematics
- Modern Geometry
- Number Theory
- Modern Algebra
- Linear Algebra
- Probability and Statistics
- Numerical Analysis

Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
Medical technologists perform a wide variety of laboratory tests used in
the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases. You may conduct routine
screening for high cholesterol or diabetes or conduct more sophisticated
tests that detect the presence of genetic disorders, bacterial infections,
and cancer.
The clinical laboratory science program at Holy Family prepares you for
this interesting field of work. After three years of undergraduate study
in science, you will complete your senior year in an accredited hospital
program, rotating through principal clinical areas such as chemistry, hematology,
microbiology, and immunochematology. After completing the program requirements,
you will be qualified to seek professional certification from the American
Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Some of the classes you will take
include:
- Biological Principles
- Chemistry Principles
- Immunology
- Biochemistry
- Bioethics
