Tickets

Graduate degree recipients will be given a maximum of SIX (6) guest tickets for the 9:30 am morning ceremony at the Kimmel Center. Graduates should only reserve the number of guest tickets actually needed. Unused tickets means that another graduate who requested additional tickets cannot be accommodated.

Undergraduate degree recipients will be given a maximum of FOUR (4) guest tickets for the 12:30 pm afternoon ceremony at the Kimmel Center. Students should only reserve the number of tickets actually needed. Unused tickets mean that another graduate who requested additional tickets cannot be accommodated.

Every guest must have a reserved seat ticket to gain entrance into Verizon Hall. Infants and toddlers who will sit on the lap of a responsible adult for the entire ceremony do not need a ticket. Children who will sit in a reserved seat must have a ticket.

The maximum number of four (4) guest tickets for each associate or baccalaureate degree candidate is predicated on the fact that many graduates, for various reasons, don’t actually attend the formal ceremony and, therefore, don’t request guest tickets. Although it is a large venue, Verizon Hall has limited guest seating. Therefore, in the event that the expected number of graduates who decide to attend the ceremony and request guest tickets significantly exceeds the projected number of participants, the maximum number of guest tickets for each graduate or many graduates may be reduced to three (3) guest tickets. In the event that the maximum number of guest tickets must be reduced from four to three for some undergraduate degree candidates, the date of online registration will determine those graduates who receive the maximum number of four tickets. Therefore, it is extremely advantageous for students to register online as soon as possible. Requests for extra guest tickets will be considered only after all graduates have been accommodated in terms of their initial request for guest tickets up to the maximum number available for each graduate. It is extremely important to complete the online registration process as soon as possible especially by the March 14 deadline. Requests for guest tickets are honored or determined based on the date that the degree candidate completed her/his online Baccalaureate Candidate Response Form.

In late-February, all undergraduate and graduate students eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony on May 19 at the Kimmel Center will receive a letter from the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Sylvester Kohut, Jr., PhD, along with a Commencement Fact Sheet. A Graduation Fee Billing Notice will also be included with this packet of information along with a flyer explaining how to order caps and gowns online. The graduation billing fee should be paid as promptly as possible.

The letter from the Associate Vice President for the Academic Affairs as well as the Commencement Fact Sheet will provide information about registering online for the commencement and ordering academic attire online. The online form must be completed even if the degree candidate is not attending the ceremony. The online form is used to ascertain the candidate's attendance status, request and reserve guest tickets, verify the candidate's proper name and major/degree, and provide special information concerning ticket requests for physically challenged guests as well as how to request extra tickets beyond the allotted number. The additional flyers sent with the letter of invitation will provide information about ordering caps and gowns online.

The Online Commencement Registration Form must be completed by March 14.

The graduates should also indicate if they plan to attend the Mass of Thanksgiving when completing the electronic online registration form.

Questions related to this important information or the Online Registration Form should be referred to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, located in Holy Family Hall, Room 225, or call (267) 341-3207.

Students should be responsible and considerate in accepting an invitation to participate. Those who accept an invitation and reserve tickets and then do not attend deprive other graduates who have requested extra tickets.

Requests for extra tickets for commencement will be accepted only if made in advance on the Online Registration Form. The online form must be completed by Wednesday, March 14. If requests for extra tickets can be accommodated, the extra tickets will not necessarily be in the same section or row as the tickets originally issued.

No additional or extra guest ticket requests will be accepted after the March 14 deadline. All requests for guest tickets must be made online using the Online Registration Form. Distribution of available extra guest tickets will be determined after all allotted reserved tickets have been assigned or committed. Extra guest tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date and order in which the degree candidate completed the Online Commencement Registration Form. Only a very limited number of extra tickets are usually available, especially for the afternoon baccalaureate degree ceremony. Extra guest tickets may not be next to or close to other assigned reserved seats previously assigned to the graduate.
